Lost and Found

It amazes me
To this day
With all the murders
And all the hate
With all the evil that is done everyday

That I still have tears to shed
That I still feel compassion
That I still hurt inside for those affected

I was afraid
I might become numb
That I may no longer care
That I would become used to it

Thankfully not,

Thankfully I do still feel
I do still hurt
I do still shed tears of sorrow
I do still have compassion
I do still care

I was worried I had lost my humanity
As it turns out
I just temporarily misplaced my sanity

This is very nice. Especially I like the way you tied it up in that last little stanza!

Nice free verse, dear Eric (and sometimes not). Although you lost you are a winner because you found Humanity again: to feel hurt, sorrow, compassion and to care...I know people who lost their notion unfortunately... Love, Iolanda
