Lost

the night is cold
and snow is falling and gathering
it drifts and drifts on the streets
and a dog is stumbling along
she is a lost runaway
with no place to go
with no shelter
and no food
and no family
and busy people rush by
not hearing
the dogs weak whimper for help
just a few more steps is all she has
so, she lays down in the pure white
until the end comes
remembering the family she loves

Ann, thanks for the compliment, it is so sad when pets go missing and are never found, there is no closure and we are left with horrible images of what could have happened to our sweet pets, that's why my cat is an indoor cat those paws will never set foot on grass, love _Constance

A Great gem Constance, brimming with considerations and symbolism here and there ( the dog's weak whimper for help) the time has changed, yet implications still alive
