Lost

It was a lovely day for a long walk, when down a path I found a wall of rock; it was thick with twisting ivy and moss, and I stood thinking- should I climb and cross; the placed stones were very old and leaf strewn, and from the hidden trees birds sang a tune; perhaps a forgotten property wall, I followed- for my mind it did enthrall; deep in the woods my quiet footsteps fell, it seemed I was under a magic spell; until I stood at a weather-stained gate, it opened though it was rusty ornate; a step within was a garden tangled, where I became part of the entangled; I walked for hours thinking I am lost, perhaps that wall- I should not have crossed. ____________________________ October 9, 2020 Poetry/Rhyme/Lost Copyright Protected, ID 20-1293-861-03 All Rights Reserved, 2020, Constance La France Written for the contest, A Wall In The Woods sponsor, Craig Cornish, NA
