Lost
Lost a wanderer
Among the flowers on the shore
The blossoms she stopped to adore
Found a pup
Laying still among the weeds
Breathless the wanderer mourned indeed
Thought alone but there was a stir among the reeds
Curiously the ghostly specter emerged
Unable to resist the mischievous urge
Cautiously examined the wanderer
Wondering what the specter had stopped to ponder
In time he decided to turn and pick a berry so fine
Offering it up to the wanderer in hopes she would dine
Although the specter was clever
The wanderer was aware of the forest full of tricksters
For long ago she had stopped to talk to the trees
Who told the tales of the mischief unseen
And long ago the wanderer had asked to be led home
But was lost and led deeper into the dark unknown
Now remembering the pup
And thinking the rabbit was pushing his luck
The wanderer leaned forward as if ready to pluck
The berry from the eagerly waiting paw
But instead she sucked in a breath and let out a mighty caw
As the specter scattered away
A mighty fire manifested from the wanderers mourning dismay
This caused the wanderer to transform
Into the mighty bird of flames born
Feeling the heat
She began to weep
While approaching the pup still
Lying on the shore
Carefully with her beak
She nuzzled his cheek
Wiping tears in a little heart shaped streak
Startled the pup stirred
Unaware of what had just occurred
Then just like all the times before
Up and flew the bird
After reviving another pup from the endless mischief that never failed to erupt
