Losses Best Avoided

Some losses can be sustained ,
And written off as collateral damage,
So we can live to fight another day,
And Love can still flourish without them.

Other losses can not be written off so lightly,
And our only hope is to regain what we lost,
If we want peace of mind and the ability to Love again.

The loss of respect, will cost you friends,
And Pity will be reflected in the countenance of all you meet.
The loss of trust will make it difficult to Love or be Loved.

The loss of Dignity will keep you away from the company you crave.
And even make you a little depraved.
So any loss of integrity will turn that little into a lot.

Motivation once lost, will take away any energy you have left and getting out of
Bed will be your biggest acheivement of the day.

Willpower once lost, can only be got back in a wrestling match with another.

As we think on what the loss of any one of these would mean to us,
We should do our best to not be the cause of their loss in others,
Or if we admit to being only human,
To give back what we have taken.

Well done David, wise advice given in the end. I see some of my younger staff members and try to encourage them to look ahead and strive for things in life, motivation is a serious loss. Cheers for sharing this thoughtful poem. Regards, Craig

Nice honest words mate. If only we all supported each other, instead of climbing over the back of the wilting, we just might really get somewhere. Imagine.

Good to hear from you Scott and what you say is right. I had this poem in back of mind for while but to find right words and not overcook it was important. Regards David in NZ

You must add self confidence and self esteem. When love walks out, it cleans house, taking all you had and all you have left. Very good advice, David. Most times we see it coming, but for some unexplained reason, we just stand on the tracks.

Thanks your comments were welcome. We certainly don't want to lose self confidence or self esteem or be responsible for others losing it. The loss of thinking time in our the modern world could be a catalyst. As a children we were sent to our room to think about our actions. Thanks again David in NZ
