Losing Pace

The mirror’s the scariest place For gazing at my aging face. I realize that I’m In the race against time Fairly certain to lose in disgrace. Clothes and make-up can help to erase Certain wrinkles so I can embrace How I look for a while And by adding a smile I can put forth a credible case. Yet what tells me that I am off base And persuades me to give up the chase Is the camera my spouse Likes to click, which can douse All my confidence, leaving no trace.

This is a good one on our own perception. We can't see inside ourselves where our true beauty actually lies only do we show it on paper.

I am grinning, Ilene! It makes sense to counter time's unforgiving attitude with a good dose of humor! By the way, I find that cameras lie more than mirrors:) Regards // paul

Oh, well. Time to ditch the camera! Beauty's overrated anyway. ~ The Beast

You need to hide that camera! Better yet, Ilene, embrace that inner beauty that you share with your Soup family every day - the fluidity of an experienced poetess merged with a generous, wise, and kind soul. That's the real you. Hugs ~ John

Fabulous how all the limericks rhyme with each other! Just remind yourself that health is more than beauty. A person can be healthy all the way to 100. It is something to pray for. Also, retirement is a luxury that’s worth some wrinkles.

We all get older but it's the beauty within that counts. Tom
