Lord Have Mercy
Tears crept slowly down her small, pale cheeks
as she lay so frightfully still, her body paralyzed
overcome and overwhelmed by fear and dread
was it only yesterday?
Yesterday came like any other, without warning
yesterday, oh yesterday should have never come
yesterday, a random, reckless drunkard struck her
yesterday, her vibrant, vivid life crumbled and went numb.
She could only tremble on the inside now
for her lifeless body was completely disengaged
trapped in a prison not of her making, with desperation
she pleaded to God for a miracle...Lord, have mercy!
