Looking Up and Hoping

Standing here looking upwards
hoping and waiting on Rose
what's happened I wonder to myself
it's snowing heavy my feet feel froze

I don't have her mobile number
never thought when asking her for date
was looking forward to this night
not expecting to be here this late

This Rose was for a lovely Rose
one I hoped to become my flower
but looks as if my chance has gone
now deep inside I feel real sour

How long must I wait looking up?
waiting for Rose never to bloom
I really need a heat of something warm
get hot chocolate to lift my doom

Sitting sipping my drink in cafe
thinking of what might have been
there sitting in the corner is guess who!
yes it's Rose my eyes is seeing

I was waiting for you I said
she replied I've been waiting for you
at opposite ends of the street
sometimes in life we miss the cue

So at least we meet up eventually
Rose and I arranged to date again
exchange mobile numbers just in case!
such complex characters women and men!

That's both sad and funny. And interesting how quickly we start to look for blame or faults in ourself or them.
