Looking Into a Fun-House Mirror
Looking Into the Fun-House Mirror
By Elton Camp
Distorted mirrors were found at the fair
When it came, they’d always be there
Back in my carefree childhood day
Laughing at my ugly image was okay
Humped, twisted and my face contorted
Not fact, but a mirror that was distorted
The visage that I saw wasn’t for real
Thus happy, not sad, it made me feel
But later, when my youth has fled away
The distorted features have come to stay
I find it hard to actually believe what I see
Who’s that old man who’s looking at me?
But there’s no need to grumble or to curse
Because if I was dead, I’d look a lot worse
So I’m thankful to still be around
My image doesn’t make me frown
I look and chuckle without the least care
“Hey, old fellow, glad to see you still there.”
