Looking In the Mirror

Looking in the mirror, what do I see?
An older woman looking back at me.
Her skin is quite thin, but her eyes still bright.
Filled with wisdom she’s gained much insight.
Wishing there’s more years ahead than behind,
So often she thinks, “Do I really mind?”
Each moment is precious from day to day,
So you cannot let fear get in the way.
I’ve lived a great life and there’s more ahead.
I’ve had love and loss, I’ve had gain and dread.
I’ve learned to let every day stand alone,
And these days are the best I’ve ever known.

The young person I was is still in there!
You just have to look under the grey hair!
