Looking Back

in the morning you wake and find me gone
I won't be the one that's hanging on
to dreams that drift in cloudless skies
I'll be gone when you open your eyes

you'll never think you did something wrong
it's not in you, not where you belong
the sun will rise and hide the tracks
what you didn't see when you look back

you won't miss me, I wasn't there
a kiss at midnight under the stairs
wear the shroud, hide in the dark
the shadow will not miss the spark

in the morning you'll wake and find me gone
I'm not one for hanging on
dreams that drift in cloudless skies
I'll be gone when you open your eyes
