Longing

longing to wake
and realize the need for someone beside you
under the sunny rays of soft morning touch
rising above the chilly solitude of an empty bed
Bonds bloom when one lays wakeful near another

longing to hold
keep close and warm
under blankets of timid trust
holding strong above the hearts of cowardly men
They leave their commitments in the night

longing to breathe
and float in an ocean breeze under the stars of your soul
and above the fear of your heart's exposure
Show someone your starry sky or be forever alone

longing to sleep
holding the gold of a sweet song
under the fingertips of a forgiving God
above the sins of a lonely and confusing adolescence
where a simple caress is the darting dust of dreams

longing for peaceful love…
