Notes About The Poem

Loner

he wears his heart
like an old familiar coat
out for us and them to see

thrown across his shoulders
loosely wrapped
so nonchalant

I recognize the solitude
and how he wears it boldly
he feels alone and empty

as if abandoned in the night
he’s not so different
him from I

not so foreign at all to me
I’m one of him
he’s one of us

we’re kin
we’re all the same
we’re one with them
the lonely people

Really nice Line! An invitation to be in companionship and friendship. This poem is needed especially with the isolation that technology brings!
