Loneliness Echoes In Silence
she sat there
in her brackish drab
watching rice fall
like blizzards of storms
from the depths
of the windowsill
that cradled her
like dreams
of love
orphaned at birth
she never knew
the pulse of heart
or the quickened breaths
that rise and fall
from the edges of happiness
as it undressed
all around her
innocence
always wore white
her perception
within a mind
where darkness
lurked
through the confines
of blurry eyes
she'd never surrender
her given name
but she'd surrender
her worthless soul
to the weight of steel
as barrels pressed
against her lips
in death's kiss
no one really cared
no one really knew her
she hid beneath
the veil of loneliness
it was never lifted
not even on that fateful day
she lies on the hill
where all the lonely
people go
buried beneath
fresh piles of snow
that blend with rice
as the bell tolls again
in echoes of laughter
from the church halls
her silence
forever unheard
