This is the 3rd of five short poems I have written under the umbrella title of 'London Town'

The cable car service over the River Thames opened on 28th June 2012 and is operated by Transport For London.

Greenwich is pronounced: Gren-itch

just dots upon the greenwich sky swinging london from the air with eyes wide shut and riding high across the thames 'where tourists dare'.

Hi Tom. Yes, they've been open since 2012. A one way journey lasts about 10 minutes at 90 metres high. (At rush hour they speed up and the journey only takes 5 minutes!) You get a good view of The Thames Barrier and The City Airport. :)....Once was enough though :) Cheers - Gary

You are definitely stretching. There's a liberation as well as a fear of falling in doing that. From this piece, I get that sense. Keep going. Good job. I sense too, that there's much more there. Maybe even more than you know.

Greg, I should also add that a watercolourist by the name of David Gentleman also influenced me too in regards to these London poems - particularly the Primrose Hill poem. I love his paintings of London. Cheers - Gary

Thank you Greg for your encouragement and kind words. This and a few other London poems I've written were based on trip reports I wrote on Trip Advisor between 2009 - 2018. I had always harboured a desire to write a series of short poems to compliment them - snapshots if you like of some great memories. I actually started writing these some time back before I joined Poetry Soup in 2019 but toyed with them and moved a few lines and words around recently. Thank you again for your very valued feedback.

Thanks so much Regina. The Emirates Cable Cars across the Thames are the scariest I've ever ridden. !! Cheers - Gary
