Logizomechanophobia

Your best friend sits each day, again and again
in front of something she loves to be on -
a thing that you think seems so much like a goblin
you wish that awful thing were dead and gone!

Your grandchildren, most women and most men
adore those goblins! You feel so alone.
You can’t believe the trance they put folks in.
“Has everybody gone insane?” you moan.

Your world has changed so much since those things came.
You cringe to think of one upon your lap.
Technology and “New Age” are to blame.
The world you knew has been wiped off the map!

To keep afloat these days is now your goal,
for goblins now surround you, and your hope
has vanished, for you’ve been sucked down a hole.
The new world just expects for you to cope!

Today you hear strange phrases such as “log,”
both “off” and “on,” to “tweet,” and “go online.”
Your friends use Skype and Facebook and they “blog,”
while you, for old dial-phones and “snail-mail” pine!

Yes, now there’s nothing basic, nothing plain.
You’re too afraid to even post a poem.
The goblins loom. To see one gives you pain,
and Internet has no place you call Home!

The apparently unstoppable spread of 'technology' scares the hell out of me. I have gone no further than a CD/DVD player. I refuse to have a 'smart' phone, in fact I don't own a cell phone... but, don't get me started! A brilliant expression of aggravation and frustration with these goblins! beautifully rhymed and 'flowed!!' :))

Well oh well...."Logizomechanophobia" sounds like an incurable disease, Andrea! We sit here as it devours 'bits' and 'bites'? If it were an animal, I'd say that the vet bills are high!! A fun piece, by the amazing you!! Best wishes, love, Mikki

yeah that is right I have a fear of wiping everything off. Did that twice and there was supposed to be no possibility of doing it. My son said it was almost impossible but I found the possible. Since then I have gotten my self in a few prediciments. My son cannot believe how I do some of the things I do. They say play around and you learn and I say heck no show me and then I write it down to remember how to do it. We don't like each other to much this computer and I. GREAT WRITE. love phyl

I might have choked on this word Andrea, hope Catie can take it in stride. I love my computer and admit my lack of knowlege but enjoy it all the same. How did we exist without them? My best wishes for the contest, it's really a good one! Luv, Lizzie

I can't keep up. I don't even try. I just keep doing the few things I can do decently. I have no shame in saying that I'm rather old fashioned. Is the word (I won't even try to write it) one you made up? Love, daver
