Lock Me Up...

If it's a crime to love you,
lock me up, key and all!
Tell it all over the news,
let it ring from city hall!

It's an open and shut case,
it's a shoe-in, a smoking gun!
It's in plain view, it's a no-brainer,
it was me! Yes, I'm the one!

You've caught me red handed,
reaching in the cookie jar!
All the evidence is conclusive,
I'm the one! Guilty as charged!

There are plenty of witnesses,
and no need to cross-examine.
No testimony is necessary,
the verdict won't be challenged!

Don't expect a high-speed chase,
I'll gladly turn myself in now.
Here I am, awaiting sentence,
bang the gavel! hand it down!

Just throw the book at me!
Dead man walking here! I'll keep,
my love for you behind these bars,
'til the day you set me free.
