Once lived an energetic lad in Montreal He was rather large, I would say, seven feet tall Tough as old shoe leather He did not care whether He played with varsity team basketball, at all.

Clever and well-rhymed, but I think the meter needs some work. Hope you don't mind my saying so.

I do not mind at all, Barbara. The syllable count is 12 12 6 6 12. Limericks require the same number of syllables in the 1st, 2nd, and 5th line, and the same number in lines 3 and 4. So, what would you recommend? I think the meter may depend on the inflection you give the lines. I don't know. Help??? Should the syllable count be compromised to get a smooth meter? Or not?
