Local County Fair

Come to the mountains in mid-October When the scents of autumn fill the air, The trees on the hillsides are in full array And be sure to visit a local county fair, Where grandma’s pumpkin pie competes For a prized ribbon of blue, red, or white. Most likely you’ll hear a bluegrass band If you come to the fair on a Friday night, When Mountaineers sing songs of pride Sharing the camaraderie of good friends, And marvel at the spectacular fireworks As another celebration of harvest ends. You should, Caren. It's not that far, and this time of the year the leaves are absolutely splendid. Mountaineers Are Always Free!!!!!

Mike, thank you so much for your thoughtful and kind comment on my poem. County Fairs in my part of the country (Kentucky) are about over now, but they are prevalent through August and September. I always appreciate your visits.
