Lloyd ‘s Schwarz
He was a tall rather thin fellow
With a black jacket and shirt light yellow
His hair hung long and gangly
With a small set of eyes
that he opened with surprise
My eyes moved some focus on his beard
For a short while
It was as though he was hiding something?
Then he smiled
What was his story?
Hidden there in all his glory
He was well spoken in poetry verse
He held a crowd with his eager expression
With his quiet family confessions
and humor his friend indeed
where he continued to feed the the impatience of the listener
Behind me an old man with rude sighs and an occasional burps
I could hear his wife telling him to stop it
as she slurped
Even with these distractions couldn’t stop me from dropping my jaw
and listen intently
His story was his life observations
That strung me with greatest affections
(this poem is for a writer I met at an open mike)
