Lizard

My skin no longer feels right
As if it were a lizard due for a shed
Only my skin seems to just keep tightening and tightening as I’m desperate for air
There’s no new prettier skin underneath
Only red ugly blood and bone
Brought to the surface by my own shaking hands trying to loosen the tightening fear

Alexa, "only my skin seems to just keep tightening and tightening as I’m desperate for air"—this line hits so hard. You have a gift for making a deeply internal pain feel entirely visible. Thank you for sharing this. 🥹
