Living without a loved one

Morning
Empty kitchen
Two mugs, one unused still
I talk to the toaster like you
Listening

Noonlight
Lonely laundry
Your socks still won’t confess
Which drawer they belong to at all
Rebels

Evening
Silent dinner
I burn toast with confidence
Blame you loudly for not stopping
Tradition

Midnight
Cold wide mattress
I steal the whole blanket now
Win every tug-of-war alone
Champion

Morning
Half-smile rising
I laugh, then miss you more
Grief trips, humor holds me upright
Breathing

Great Cinquain series. I can read your mind and can feel your loneliness in every single line.
