Living the Words We Write
I wish I could live the words I write
And the thoughts that I hope they construe.
I prefer the person on paper
To the one that is always in view.
Emotions I express on paper
Reflect how I think the world should be.
But the courage to bring them to life
Has a way of circumventing me.
The thoughts that I convey aren't contrived
They are part of the true inner me.
I can find the words to relay them;
On paper, not in reality.
I don't accept life for what it is
And then adhere to the status quo.
I like to imagine what could be,
And that's mostly frowned upon, I know.
