Living In the Leaves

LIVING IN THE LEAVES How I envy the birds - Their trees are so beautiful in autumn. Gold, yellow and green, Soft, weightless, silently rustling. Peaceful, I see them gliding, Playing, chasing morsels of crumb Beyond my tall walls. What joy to be a bird Flying free in a leaf-filled glade, Not acting the part, but being the part. Whistling from heaven, Winged sky-diving in the leaves. I see it, but they live it, I act it, but they simply are it.
