Living Denied

It is
with admiration
and respect
that I eulogize
the passing of a friend.
He was someone
I knew so very well.
In actuality,
he even
resembled me
in appearance.
He was never
truly happy
but always showed
a smile for others,
to not bring them down.
He tried
to do his best
by others,
though he felt
he let them down
so many times.
Now… he is gone
and exists
in the shell
of another life
as a new tenant
moved into his space,
 occupying the body,
 heart and mind.
This person sees
the world as is,
but also glows,
for he knows
he can give love
and get love,
he is loved.
So goodbye
dear old friend
and from the new guy,
hello world!
