Living as if Dying, Dying as if Dreaming

Living as if Dying, Dying as if Dreaming

I turn in early, the mind's eye slowly closing like a gate,
I live as if dying — soft steps through the dust of silence, carrying me
toward a land where light and darkness embrace like brothers,
we were two worlds in one... why, my love, did you walk away?

We look eye to eye, two mirrors lying to each other in secret,
and I feel our truth running slow, like paint peeling from glass,
"the best of both worlds" was only smoke on the evening window,
now only hollow shadows remain, wandering through the season of loss.

I won't regret dying poor, a small fish in the wave of the world,
far from the roar of the crowd, from the heavy noise of the foam,
I die softly, like a rust-colored leaf drowning in the evening river,
and in place of tears, I give the earth the seed of silence.

I grew tired of "ifs" and "buts," hollow words, wandering and lost,
I was glad no one saw the cuts I kept hidden beneath my clothes,
I carry wounds like black butterflies, caught in the net of night,
and I stay silent — for only my silence speaks the language of fate.

I die like a reed broken by the wind, yet my soul still feels sacred,
even if they erase me from memory like some forgotten word,
I dream as I die and die as I dream, in a circle without borders,
psychedelic smoke drifting soft through the stars, a gentle solar burn.
