Live above, not in your dwelling
The place God made for man to dwell,
was so designed to suit him well.
Created perfect, without flaw,
each small detail inspired awe.
Living is much more than dwelling
Its impact is much more telling.
It pertains to our being,
not just to what others are seeing.
God made us to live forever
and His love will leave us never.
Sin has not quenched our desire
to live the life that is higher.
Enjoying fellowship with God,
each moment by His presence awed,
delighting to Him worship give,
this is how we were meant to live.
To live in this ethereal space
requires God’s enabling grace.
When we are sustained by God’s love
we seek those things which are above
Our minds and thoughts are renewed
when they are with God’s Word infused.
As we delight to do God’s will
His fragrance will our being fill.
The trials and the cares of earth
will not invade our soulish mirth
for we are breathing heaven’s air
and live in a celestial sphere.
The allurements of earthly things
no longer tug at our heartstrings.
In Christ, we’ve found the perfect home
while dwelling below heaven’s dome.
Our dwelling here is built on sand
the storms of life it can’t withstand.
It is somewhat like a tent
that life’s storms can easily rent.
If you live within your dwelling
you will all perish in its felling,
If you pursue earthly pleasures,
you’ll forfeit eternal treasures.
Live above, not in your dwelling,
by a life refined and telling.
Then when Jesus comes in the sky,
you will ascend with Him on high.
