Little Ones

Little ones, just close your eyes.
I'll sing you off to sleep.
And while you dream, you'll
hear my voice.
Soothing, loving, unique.
My little ones, I wish you
rest and calmness,
little souls.
For my warmth and love
will shelter you,
for the rest of your existence.
You will always be my angels,
no matter where you are.
Gone too soon, but loved
incredibly.

As a matter of fact, I did write this about my own children. Sadly, I lost both of them back in 2005, but I was only a month along. It still bothers me, but I moved on to a certain degree. The poem was going to start off as a lullaby to one child, to enter the contest and I kind of just went south with it and wrote about my twins. I did however, submit another poem.

Dear Jessica, That was a very sweet note you left on my page. I’ll be proud to be one of your friends in poetry soup, but I have to admit I don’t have much time these days because I’m doing a lot of editing. I loved your lullaby Little Ones. Are you writing about your own children? It’s very lovely, and I can see how much you love them. Love, Amy
