Had to rewrite a little, seems I will write something and then think I am done but ponder it and suddenly have to make a change. Hope that fits in okay. thinking may be a short narrative?
Little one
There is tapping on the window, rain drops and little hands
A mother drys her wet face
and she prays she can explain,
she did not plan to leave her little girl alone and afraid
the plan was to take her child to safety
this refuge from this famous land,
instead there was a prison for babies and little girls.
and as always there was money to be made
she stood until lawyers came and freed her
then she rushed into this cold damp place,
reached out with hope to wrap her arms around her child
but in that instant meant to enfold her little one safe again
lawyer and camera man waiting for the perfect moment
the mother’s tears began again wondering will she be able to explain
to her child now hiding very quietly from her
behind something like a cage
