Little League

One, two, three strikes your out Playing our rivals, another epic bout The stress of playing inning after inning Sweaty hands and butterflies are all beginning It's the start of the seventh inning stretch A Coke and peanuts are a great fetch Bottom of the ninth, MAN! we're behind one run Rally caps are out, and the chanting has begun I'm not a big league baseball slayer I'm a ride the pine little league player I wish I had the courage to say; "Put me in coach, I'm ready to play!"

Oh, Abe, you certainly capture all of the things I love about baseball, whether little league or pro. The spirit in the bleachers, the peanuts and softdrinks consumed in summer heat, the suspense of the ninth inning...You have hit a home run!!! Excellent write and one for my favorites. Also love the reference to the song in your last line. Love, Carolyn

What an uplifting poem, a reminder that we don't have to be pros to enjoy the game. Your opening line reminds me of the great Harry Cary. Can't say that I'm a Cubs fan but I sure enjoyed hsi enthusiasm for the game. Good luck in the contest. Thank you for your kind comments. Karen
