Little Feet
Now hear the beat
Of all their little feet.
A note for every single pain
Of dreams shoved down the drain.
As their soles meet the dirt
Their hearts race with hurt
And betrayal that feels so real
Compared to life that’s turned surreal.
You warn them that life is rough
And they pray to God you are enough
To save them from nightmares
And incubus that cause their tears.
But you never cease to fail
To be the hammer to the nail
On their sarcophagus of life
And the one to cause their strife.
So kiss your little one goodnight
And don’t hold on too tight.
‘Cause before you know it,
They see the crimes you commit.
And you’ll be sending them on their way
To the trail of decay.
