Little Child Next Door
Little one, I hear you.
I hear your screams and cries in the night,
But I am alone and small too.
There is nothing I can do.
I have told the large ones
of your plight and still
they do not listen.
they do not hear,
they are oblivious,
even with the screaming in there ears.
I am weak, meek, and small.
I have screamed and tried with my all,
but still they do not move.
Oh little one, I am sorry.
I did listen, but couldn’t help.
And now you are in your little box
Deep beneath the shore.
I was too meek, too small and afraid,
And also -
IGNORED!
