Listening To God
I recall the prophet Samuel’s response:
Here am I Lord!
Great is the outpouring of silence
as he listens and pays attention -
to God’s presence, along with his freedom.
While he feels and savors
His holiness in silence,
His message to fulfill
He listens and waits upon him.
Like breathing, the best way
as a constant reminder.
To listen to Him deep within;
creates the core of God’s breath
his ruah with a powerful message.
Time after time, breath after breath
our living souls yearn for Him
oh, breath of God! a sacred breath
quietly at work in the midst of noise.
A great deal of knowing
a blessing to thank for
His voice from the innermost
a perfect symbol, an intimate action
that draws us closer to Him;
that leads us to the center
where His presence dwells.
