Listen

every nerve is my last &
                        i can't figure out how
you're tickling them all at once. the senses have standards,
which at times are achieved, but which normally are absurd
ideas to compare everything else against.
     (everything else is worthless)
make this decision, life or death, this is the fork in the road,
one wrong step & the trip is
                               d o o m e d.
I'M TRYING SO HARD! letting it all go so one day, Payment.
                             /never for the greater good.
    never really as it should./
all of those things you promised (still awaiting that rose garden)- all
of those things you gave- they just don't add up. is it because i'm not
worth it? is it because you have better things to do?
i.
needed.
you. too late to turn back, choices have already been made, things
have already been experienced that can never be forgotten.
[oh how i wish they could]
turn your face back, away. i should have
known your recognition was merely a sideways glance.
