Sne that got away.

She left  Impression on her coffee cup but has a bigger impression on me.

A blank stare into nothingness Suddenly I looked up as something caught my eye A very pretty girl saunters in and buys herself a coffee And perches herself cross-legged upon a cleared table in front of me Among the crowded cafe din with cackling clucking hens The mystery girl dressed divinely looking like a Bird of paradise She flicks her hair and reaches down to her clutch bag Takes out a cigarette and lights it up Trying not to be noticed I glimpse once in a while She caught me and gave me a quick smile She wore a fragrance that wafted my way I have never had the pleasure to smell before So potent and alluring that it awakened my senses And evoked and oozed sensual feminity I was pleasantly intoxicated adding other mystic Her hair glistened under the ambient light And nuzzled gently upon her ivory shoulders Head down lost in her own little world far away In an unknown place Who was she where was she going where had she been Questions permeated my captured mind I noticed she didn't wear a ring I suppose much wanted to talk and get to know her to pass the time of day Maybe we'd get on who knows? But I couldn't even try She was so pretty Maybe not to everyone but to me She was beautiful she had something I can't explain I suppose she ticked all the boxes at the back of my mind Suddenly her cell phone pinged she answered Judging by the big smile on her lovely face Crunched forward she cradled the phone as if it was so fragile and Precious I couldn't hear much As the din around us was a little too loud I know I shouldn't have looked But I couldn't help myself As a needy single guy my manly Natural urges surfaced For a short while, I was smitten She supped the dregs of her cradled cup Put it down stood up turned her back and walked away My heart sank I just yearned for someone to share life with And make me smile again She left me with a sweet taste But a bitter unspoken goodbye All that was left was a tender memory A smouldering cigarette And a red lipstick impression left on her coffee cup But she left a bigger impression on me. Another one that got away Another crack in my heart.

Dear Peter, a bittersweet yet sensual piece full of sensory and yearning imagery. The beauty of your poetic expression swept me up and away on the vivid emotion of your verse. Splendid poetry! Warmest wishes.. ~Susan
