Lipogram-A

In the kingdom of Pu’u ‘O’o,
domicile of Pélé
summits of molten stone
crowned with ginger blossoms, orchids, hibiscus,
the stone hips of the wells of fire were skirted with towering fronds;
the ground moved
with rhythmic steps,
Pélé’s Thunder drums.

Joy poured down the rock
red, yellow, glowing-gloss rolling like honey
over the edge of the cliff,
turning the surf, the tide, the brine into clouds.

Congratulations Jack, your poem earned a distinguished place in my contest. This was one of the hardest contest I’ve ever had to judge, the quality of the poems entered were outstanding and yours was one of them my friend, Emile.
