Not that long ago, humans were hunter-gatherers living in caves. And along with the Neanderthals, we figured out how to create fire. But unlike them, we also learned how to sow crops, domesticate animals, and construct shelters; that edge allowed us to survive. We developed language and writing; inventing tools that built cities and empires. But we were not without fault; we condoned slavery and slaughtered the innocent. Both brutal and territorial, we perfected the art of war. And yet, we persevered despite our flaws, driven by intelligence and cunning. We’ve made some progress towards accepting each other’s differences; but we’re not there yet. We’ve learned to harness electricity, achieve flight and split the atom. We even landed on the moon, and sent rovers to Mars. The whole world is internet-connected; all of Man’s accumulated knowledge is now as near as the phone in our hand. I can only guess what tomorrow holds for we are an incredible species; and we continue to climb technology’s ladder, placing limitless possibilities within our reach.

Emile, for me your line "And we're making progress towards accepting each other's differences," was most important. I loved the optimism of your poem. I'm a bit tired of all the apolcalyptic doom and gloom! Thanks for writing this poem, which is certainly worthy of POTD!
