Lilacs For Mom

I see the lilacs and think of you,
it's always been that way.
Memories come flooding back
of many a Mother's Day,

There was no extra money
for special gifts for you
but just outside I'd always find
the perfect gift, I knew.

I'd heap my arms with lilacs
and you'd always make a fuss
arranging them in a crystal vase.
A special memory of us.

Years later when my girls came along
those trees were still right there
and on Mother's Day, as in the past,
their beautiful bounty they'd share.

Lilacs and Mother's Day.
In my mind the two are one.
Starting with just you and me
a family tradition had begun.

Nice reflective, storyline effective allowing the reader to build the story around your words, rhymes seem natural not forced, a perfect length write that captures a moment you shared, ...well done...
