Like Somewhere Else

Evening approaches
we speculate
     about the
darkness
   The dying sun
filters its way
  into our hearts
Even as we feel
  the warmth
  we realize it
is impermenant
  Yes, we speculate
how to find
 the lasting
     amidst the
dying embers of
the day
    Everything seems
to be in motion
   Yet our eyes
and spirits are
tiring
   As you watch
the sun sink
You come to the realization that
it will be replaced in the
     sky by the moon
   don't ask
too many questions
   just accept
the changes
    A little speculation
is perhaps alright
  but the real
  story is not in
  our conscious,
  thinking mind
Rather it lies
  deep in the
  depths of the
unconscious
And in the world
  of dreams
     All the
differences make
the night seem
    like it was
formed somewhere
     else
        the twinkling
stars
form a crown in the sky
as sunlight
   leaves us
  we speak little
and are encased
   in shadow

Matthew this is beautiful. Love the way your mind works. I am always left with a dreamy feeling of all possibilities exist after I read your poetry. Thanks for the info on The Hobbit - I am so excited! And thanks for the book info too, I will definitely check it out. Appreciate it very much. Love, Shar
