Like Sisters
We’re eight,
skipping down your street
just kids.
Tap tap tap
our feet are light on the sidewalk,
and there’s a smile on your face.
We’re ten,
you mom’s heels are being worn by us again
just playing.
Clink clink clink
The shoes are way too big on us,
but there’s still a smile on your face.
We’re twelve
a skiing trip with your family
just for three days.
Whoosh whoosh whoosh
you and your brothers zoom past me,
and there’s a smile on your face.
We’re almost fourteen
smearing make-up on each other’s faces
just laughing.
Tweet tweet tweet
your bird flew out of it’s cage again,
but there’s still a smile on your face.
I smile back and laugh this time,
Because are are like sisters,
Just best friends.
