Like It Mattered
I left my head open
and you stole my dreams
I left my heart open
and you tore out the love
I fell back from the pain of yesterday
like it mattered at all
I fell through never never land
and you used it all up
I left my eyes on the table
and you picked them up
dirtied them with your fingerprints
and put them in the mud
I left my tongue in my bed
and you uncovered it again
woke it from its slumber
and made a mess of this head
I left my arms open for you
but you walked right on by this lonely ghost
couldn't see the pieces inside the mirror
wouldn't deny the memory of the complaints
I left my soul behind me
to pick up the puzzle
and all I've known has come undone
All I've known has been messed up
like it mattered anyhow.
