Like Grand Daughter

a small champaka sprout
lost to the receding flood
my grand daughter's face.

well done, unusual plant, I read it’s good for healing, poem is emotive. We can take much from your 3 short lines! Looks like I already read but I must say this haiku deserved another read!

Frightening. I hope this is not true. My condolences if your poem is fact. Sorrow from my heart.

So much emotion in so few words. The image of the lost sprout paired with your granddaughter’s face is quietly heartbreaking and deeply human. Beautifully done.

The read cast me sad. Ignorant about the word, I looked Champaka up and it isn't in Websters, but Websters does declare Champak is a tree so when Soup's spell check indicated Champaka should be capitalized I went straight to confused. Follow that? Either which, whatever way, your granddaughter's joy level was deflated, and we can't have that! I think you Haiku words, I think its intent was 'ahhhhh' CayCay
