Notes About The Poem

Like Falling Petals

"My tears are like the quiet drift
    of petals from some magic rose;
      and all my grief flows from the rift
of unremembered skies and snows".

Of petals from some magic rose
   my memories are born again-
      of unremembered skies and snows
emersed in tears like falling rain.

My memories are born again;
   so sad are those that make me cry.
      Emersed in tears like falling rain-
like petals falling from the sky.

So sad are those that make me cry,
   and all my grief flows from the rift.
      Like petals falling from the sky-
my tears are like the quiet drift.

First Stanza, written by Dylan Thomas,
is from his poem, 'Clown In The Moon.'
A former contest required us to create a
poem using that stanza.

Enjoyed the read...the gentle sweetness of petals adrift.
