Like Dark Sunglasses

.

The suspicious mind,
like dark sunglasses,

    even on a sunny day,
    projects its own tint,

    paints its own distrust
    on everyone around,

    seeing you and me
    as mere dark shadows

of its own dark image
and shadowy likeness.
