Lights On

I would leave the lights on if that will bring you back home. Too many nights I walk the hall and check each room in hopes of finding you there, sleeping peacefully. The shadows are all that remain haunting the walkway you once took routinely. In the quiet still of the dark night I find I am lost without you ever longing and recalling other nights together. The darkness and silence surround me and alone now, I leave the lights on - hoping and waiting that you'll return if only ion my dreams.
