Lights In the Sky
Lights in the sky from red to green
With snow falling it's quite the scene
For serene teens with a Christmas sheen
I mean what a year it has been
Kids craft snowfolk in their yards
While entertained by door to door bards
Waiting for the mail to receive Christmas cards
As pooches watch passerby like solemn guards
But deep within some hearts is pain
Reminded of loss that cuts to the vein
It's a stain that leaves upon the affair a strain
Wondering if true happiness can ever be found again
Smiles abound all around
Not a frown to be found
Resounding laughter the only sound
From the window it's quite profound
Take time to grieve with the belief
That eventually time will grant relief
But may the sorrow be brief
With valor you will again be chief
So as smiling faces make folly
And kiss beneath holly
While generally making jolly
It is okay to feel melancholy
But here you are with the courage to stand
Ready to face the rigors life has planned
As long as you do not dig your head in the sand
There will be joys and cheers quite grand
Lights in the sky from red to green
With snow falling it's quite the scene
Upon your broken hearted face a Christmas sheen
I mean what a tumultuous year it has been
