Lighthouses, Shipwrecks and Shooting Stars

Shipwreck
A lighthouse brings light to the water,
And a warning to sailors.
I must've been sailing blindfolded
And thank God I was
Our ships collided
Completely destroying my own
I apologized
Eventually I admitted
I wanted to sail with you
We were too caught up in the idea of sailing together
We didn't realise our own ships were sinking

Lighthouses
I loved sailing with you
But I never did stop sailing blindfolded
I made things harder by ignoring the advice of local lighthouses
I don’t think you knew how to tell me
That the blindfold made it harder for you
If we had just communicated a little better
I think we would have hit a few less rocks

Shooting stars
I saw a shooting star last night
You asked if I had wished for anything
I said no
I said I forgot
I think I forgot looking for a reason to tell you something
I waited for another one so I could finally make a wish
I waited for hours
The thought of you sat beside me all the while
When I did see it
You asked what I had wished for
I said I couldn't tell you or else it wouldn't come true
I wished that I wouldn't have to talk in past tense
Or write with metaphors to think of when I was happy with you
I'm happy when we talk I just think there's a little less of a glimmer in your eyes
I don't think you want to sail with me anymore
So I'll put the blindfold back on
And pay no mind to the bright light telling me what to do.
