Lighten the Mood

School has a new Headteacher
He is a bit of a dish
(by all accounts)
Although my daughter was .. "meh"
Her friends quietly wish
To acknowledge his
Easy on the eye appeal by each
Not disparaging his 'welcome back for term' speech
A result in any teacher's book
My daughter, however, has a vicarious connection
She is determined to keep quiet about
And no introspection:
She 'baby-sat' his best friend's wife's rabbit
For two weeks
It probably would not earn you credibility points
(lights cigar, takes a draw, exhales)
"It's a tough school, baby cheeks"

Good to see poetry reflecting everyday life and lightheartedness. We need these poems as well to remind us to not overlook the importance of these moments. Well crafted and words stay true to actual moment I suspect. Thanks for sharing. David in NZ
