Light Years Away

G ravitation non-existent, thrusters gone along with hope,
A ll we are in this great cosmos is but a speck in a microscope.
P anic long since has subsided resigned now to our waiting fate
I n our capsule, now our coffin, chance of rescue now too late.
N ebula and cosmic gasses cloud and shroud us as we pass,
G liding through the astral meadows of this heavenly spacial mass.
V elvet night, sepulchral darkness, punctuated with diamond stars,
O xygen now seriously depleted, only showing a couple of bars.
I ridescent lights exploding, peace and serenity, a soporific dream,
D own into the black hole's void, in space no one can hear you scream.

A frightening and helpless way to go. I also imagined this as way the planet is going, slowly dying and to disappear, oxygen depleating, earth our capsule/coffin and going into the black hole. On a lighter note all my mysteriously disappearing pens etc might well be in one of these black holes because I'm pretty sure that is where they all go either that or I've got gremlins lol. Thank you for another enjoyable read. Emilia x

Hi John, I am happy in knowing that one of my thousands of pens (ok, that's bit of an exaggeration) will help you do the crossword lol. Better still, they will be there waiting for you to write more of your wonderful poems. Emilia x

Hi Emilia, like you I envisage the absolute vastness out there and it makes me feel even more insignificant than I am. But it’s a comfort to know that when the Black Hole swallows us I won’t have a problem with finding a pen for the crossword lol. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks x
