Light Rain

Something trickles over my brow.
I look up to see clouds,
lightly shaded in grey.
My heart beats with
a wild kind of hope…

A family of drops follow;
a blessing to the earth.
I cup my hands,
try to catch them.
But they slip
from my hold.

Plonk.
Plonk.
Splash.
The beat to which I dance..
Delighting in the watery chaos.

The clean, clear smell
of the air
marks an end to
my light shower.
Drenched,
I shiver in the breeze.

Everything around me sparkles!
My eyes flit from flowers,
to grass blades,
to the shiny, dark street.

For just a few minutes
I was a part of nature.
Fun-filled moments
in which it also
seemed a part of me.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Have a blessed day.

Hello Marna -- thank you for your kind comments on my "Late Autumn" poem. I can sense the rain and "clean, clear smell" in your wonderful "Light Rain" poem. Please know that "I" am myself in my poem -- and that "someone" is a person I once loved who lived in a far-away town in Maine who I could never be with. So it is an "unrequited" poem of me seeing them by a window experiencing the same rain as I. Best regards!

Thank you Janet. It's fascinating how ones brain can elaborate on an idea or word!

I am a lover of nature all things therein. Your poem made me feel the rain on my face and hear its rhythm on the roof. ???
